Three Status are shown on Railway tickets.
Confirmed- This means the passenger get full berth in that particular train i.e confirmed tickets
RAC- RAC means Reservation against Cancellation. You get a half berth in that particular train and later it may also be converted to full berth in time. That ticket may be treated as confirmed and you get a full berth.
Waiting- If any previous ticket holder cancels their ticket then only you will get the berth in that particular train. If at the end if your tickets are showing waiting then you have to cancel the tickets and the refund will be transferred to your account. If you buy from IRCTC then your tickets will automatically cancelled and refund transferred to your bank account.
