Arrival at Khajuraho

Today, arrival at Khajuraho airport or railway station and proceed tohotel. Check in and rest for sometime. Later in evening light & sound show. It is a special introductory program where you will heard the speech on Khajuraho temples history, Chandela dynasty, sculpture work, art, myths etc. You can also do photography of Khajuraho temples under artificial light. Overnight stay at hotel in Khajuraho.

Khajuraho - Varanasi

Today, after taking breakfast, we will proceed for temples sightseeing. Our visit will begin from Western Group of Temples. It is the large and most maintained group of temples and are declared as UNESCO World Heritage site. Here you may hire a manual guide or take audio guide service. One by one you will visit all the temples. All the temples are well maintained and photogenic. Among them Kandariya Mahadev Temple, Laxmana Temples have good collection of artistically sculptured images. During sightseeing you will find erotic images on outer wall and lower end of temples but not inside the temples. Later we will drive to Eastern group of temples in which few temples are their with impression of Jain religion. With this our sightseeing will complete. Later in afternoon drive to Khajuraho airport to take flight to Varanasi. (Flight Ticket Charge is not included In Package cost). On reaching holy city Varanasi, drive to your hotel. It is also known by the names as Benaras and Kashi. It is believed to the most ancient city of World and holy place for Hindu religion followers. If time permits, we will go for evening boating in Ganges river to attend and photograph evening Ganga Arti. It the important event on Varanasi ghat. Overnight stay at hotel in Varanasi.

Today we will do full day Varanasi sightseeing. Our day will begin with early morning boat ride to witness morning sunrise and capture the images. In addition to this, we will have chance to see people taking holy bath, performing their rituals, pooja (worship) etc. You may also take holy dip in river Ganges. Visit famous Kashi Vishwanath Jyotirlinga Temple on Varanasi ghat. It is ancient and most popular active Varanasi temple. Here photography and leather items are not allowed. Now take breakfast at your hotel and resume your city tour. Visit other popular temples like Tulsi Manas Temple, Bharat Mata Temple, Sankat Mochan Temple etc. In second half of the day, visit Ramnagar Fort from where the ruler of Kashi rules over this region. Royal family member are still lives their. If time permits, visit handloom industry of Benaras. Kandariya Mahadev Temple

Khajuraho
One of the most impressive and refined temples in Khajuraho is the Kandariya Mahadev Temple that displays over 800 sculptures. In fact, this is the most impressive temple structure as compared to the rest and it is dedicated to the Hindu deity, Shiva. Inside, in the sanctum, you can find a Shiva Linga made of marble surrounded by around 646 statues making it look spellbinding.

Lakshmana Temple

One word description that surrounds this particular temple of Khajuraho is Magnificent. Lakshmana Temple appears similar to Kandariya Mahadev Temple, however, it is the oldest and the largest in the Western Group of Temples. It is a must visit shrine that will certainly captivate the beholder through its intricately carved statues and the adhisthana (lower platform) that will levitate your heart seeing its beautiful work of art. Lakshmana Temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and inside the shrine, you can witness a beautiful female bracket figure and a high carved ceiling at the entrance porch of the temple.

Matangeshwar Temple

Unlike other temples in Khajuraho, Matangeshwar Temple has its own specialty. It may not be adorned with intricate decor or exotic sculptures but one thing this shrine offers is the eight-foot Shiva Linga. It is the highest lingam in the entire North India made of yellow sandstone. Besides, here, you can expect to be engrossed in the worship of Lord Shiva and the best time to visit is during the morning aarti as there will be fewer people as compared to evenings. However, make sure to plan a visit during the festive months of February or March during Shivratri.

Adinath Temple

Adorned with delicate carvings of Yakshis, which is a female mythical being and a style of Islamic architecture in its Ardha Mandapa (entrance porch), Adinath Temple is where you can wander and admire medieval Indian architecture as you circumambulate around its Pradakshina. Adinath is a small and charming temple dedicated to the first Jain Tirthankar, Adinath, who was also the founder of Jainism. This temple is a part of the eastern group of temples and is surrounded by lustrous gardens. A visit here can help you explore marvellous figures of female goddesses.

Javari Temple

One of the alluring tourist attractions in Khajuraho known for its complicated and intricate design, the temple of Javari is a beautiful shrine surrounded by Godly figures. According to the locals, this particular temple is named after the owner of the land and that it is not dedicated to any Hindu deity, however, on the other hand, it is believed that the temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. A visit here can certainly be worth it as the artwork is amazing in the Niranthara temple, mandapa, sanctum, vestibule, and portico.

Chitragupta Temple

Chitragupta Temple devoted to the Sun God (Surya Dev) facing towards east or the rising sun and the imposing image of the God in the inner chamber is as high as five feet and is shown driving a horse-drawn chariot. On the occasion of Khajuraho Dance Festival most of the dance performances take place in front of this temple and also the Vishwanatha temple.

Generally Hindu Pilgrims Gather To Take A Holy Dip Here In The Chaitra (Month Of March/April) And Magh (Month Of Jan/Feb) As Well As Some Other Significant Events Like Solar/Lunar Eclipse, Probodhoni Ekadashi And Makar Sankranti. At This Ghat, A Huge Shiva Lingam Is Situated Under The Peepal Tree Where Pilgrims Offer Jal And Worship After Taking Holy Bath In The Ganga Water. Another Shiva Lingam Is - Asisangameshwar Lingam, In A Small Temple Of The Marble Near To The Assi Ghat. The Ghat Has Been Also Described In The Ancient Hindu Literatures Like The Matsya Purana, Kurma Purana, Padma Purana, Agni Purana And Kashi Khanda.

Manikarnika Ghat

Manikarnika Ghat Is One Of The Holiest Cremation Grounds Among The Sacred Riverfronts, Alongside The River Ganga, In The City Of Varanasi In The Indian State Of Uttar Pradesh. In Hinduism, Death Is Considered As A Gateway To Another Life Marked By The Results Of One's Karma. It Is Believed That A Dead Human's Soul Attains Moksha, And Hence Breaks The Cycle Of Rebirth When Cremated Here. Thus, Scores Of The Elderly Across The Whole Country Seek To Walk Up To Its Edges, And Spend Their Last Days Absorbing The Charisma Of The Ghat Making Death Painless And Insignificant To Be Pondered Upon. The Ghat Is Named After Maharani Lakshmibai Of Jhansi, Who Was Born Here. The Hindu Genealogy Registers At Varanasi Are Kept Here.

Dashashwamedh Ghat

Dashashwamedh Ghat Is The Main Ghat In Varanasi On The Ganga River. It Is Located Close To Vishwanath Temple And Is Probably The Most Spectacular Ghat. Two Hindu Legends Are Associated With It: According To One, Lord Brahma Created It To Welcome Lord Shiva. According To Another Legend, Lord Brahma Sacrificed Ten Horses During Dasa-Ashwamedha Yajna Performed Here. The Present Ghat Was Built By Peshwa Balaji Baji Rao In The Year 1748. A Few Decades Later, Ahilyabahi Holkar, The Queen Of Indore Rebuilt The Ghat In The Year 1774. Close To The Ghat, Overlooking The Ganga Lies The Jantar Mantar, An Observatory Built By Maharaja Jai Singh Of Jaipur In The Year 1737.
