Today is free to explore the Lake Tahoe region by yourself. Head to Zephyr Cove, Nevada, just 4 miles north of Stateline where you may like to enjoy a sightseeing cruise on board M.S. Dixie II, a traditional paddle-wheeler, to admire the breathtaking scenery of majestic Emerald Bay, one of the most photographed locations in the world. Eagle Falls, home of the Vikingsholm Castle & Fannette Island. Next drive through breathtaking West Shore before stopping for lunch in Tahoe City. After lunch (not included), stop at the Truckee River Dam & Fanny Bridge. Overnight in South Lake Tahoe.

Lake Tahoe - Virginia City – Reno (1 Night)

Check out of your hotel in Lake Tahoe and hit the road again, heading for Reno. Detour to Virginia City, once a vital settlement between Denver and San Francisco. Rediscover history in this Victorian-era town with a stroll along authentic boardwalks to Old West saloons, or step back in time with a horse-drawn carriage ride. Affectionately known as the “Biggest Little City in the World”, Reno is best known for its casinos and was where the Caesars Entertainment Corporation was born. Explore the downtown corridor and delve into history at the Nevada Museum of Art and the National Automobile Museum, where over 300 cars showcase America’s motoring past. Overnight in Reno.

Reno – Ely (1 Night)

Perched at the east end of Nevada’s share of Highway 50, the historic mining town of Ely provides access to Cave Lake State Park where several outdoor activities can be enjoyed. Ely is also home to the Nevada Northern Railway Museum, where visitors can view exhibits and climb aboard a steam-powered passenger train and travel back in time on the famous Ghost Train of Old Ely. Satisfy your appetite with an evening meal (not included) at the quirky Cellblock Steakhouse in Ely, the town’s only fine dining establishment focusing on quality meat and fine wines. As the name suggests, diners are seated in unique, cell-like booths. Overnight in Ely.

Ely to Las Vegas via Lehman Caves in Great Basin National Park, Cathedral Gorge State Park

Head a few miles south of Ely to visit the Ward Charcoal Ovens that were used by nearby silver mines in the 1870’s before travelling on to Nevada’s Great Basin National Park, where the ancient pine trees and Lehman Caves, with its beautiful stalactites, stalagmites and helictites, offer wonderful photographic opportunities. Cathedral Gorge State Park, with its dramatic carved cliffs and slot canyons, is also well worth a stop at to admire the landscapes weathered by Mother Nature over the years. Later head straight to Las Vegas city famed for its vibrant nightlife, centered around 24-hour casinos and other entertainment options. Drop your self drive car and proceed to hotel on own and checkin. Overnight in Las Vegas.
