Gujarat is a state with vibrant heritage at each corner. The overwhelming history, inspiring culture, and architecture can make anyone love with the state. It has some of the best historical places around the world, and each one has a different story to tell. So here we have prepared some of the best Historical places in Gujarat.

Laxmi Vilas Palace, Vadodara

Laxmi Vilas Palace is the residence of the royal family of Vadodara, Gaekwad. In 1890, Maharaja Sayaji Rao III built it. It is 4 times bigger than Buckingham Palace, and hence the most substantial private residence in the world. The area cover by the place is 500 acres and includes private railway, zoo and golf course. The palace designed using the Indo-Saracenic Revival style architecture. The Darbar Hall is open for shooting, and even people can visit some of the parts of the palace.

Dholavira, Kutch

The Dholavira is a 4500-year-old excavation site that dates back to the Indus Valley Civilization era, also known as Harappan culture.  Mr. J.P. Joshi discovered it in 1967, and today it is one of the famous heritage sites of Gujarat. Dholavirl is located in Bharuch taluka of Kutch. Most of the tourist visit Ranutsav and Dholavirl together during the winter season. One can see the world’s earliest sign boards, important relics, planned water conservation system, and terracotta ornaments.

Sun Temple, Modhera

The Sun Temple is one of the most visited historical places not in Gujarat but India. It dedicated to the Sun God and located in the bank of River Pushpavati. In was built in 1026 AD, Bhima I of Chalukya Dynasty. At present, the Archeological Survey of India maintained it. Often, the Sun Temple of Modhera is counted as one of the Seven Wonders of India.

Rani ki Vav, Patan

In the memory of King Bhimdev 1, Rani Udayamati built the Rani ki Vav in 1063 AD. The water in the well is taken out from River Saraswati, but today the river is dried. The most iconic archeological sites of Gujarat, Rani ki Vav located in Patan. UNESCO titled it as a World Heritage Site that shows the artistry and rich history via sculptures. The Vav designed with Maru-Gurjara architecture style. It is a complex technique.

Sidi Saiyyed Mosque

The list of historical places in Gujarat remains incomplete if we do not cover the Sidi Saiyyed Mosque located in the Ahmedabad. It dates back to 1573 and built by a slave of Sultan Ahmed Shah, Sidi Saiyyed. If we consider the structure built in Sultanate structures, then we can consider the Sidi Saiyyed Mosque in Gujarat. This Mosque built in Indo-Saracenic style of architecture. The interiors design is excellent. It is decorated with chiseled marble and intricate jaalis windows.

Vijay Vilas Palace

Vijay Vilas Palace built by Rao Vijayraj Ji in 1929 at Mandvi Beach. Before it used as a summer house for the Jadeja rulers of Kutch province. Even the royal family of Kutch is still living in the home. Here one can see a mixture of architectural styles- Rajput, Victorian and Mughal.
